Attorney Grabe Assists with a Building Project in Mexico

At the Law Offices of Timothy Grabe, we are dedicated to giving back to our community. We believe that we are able to make a difference every day through our legal practice – as we fight aggressively for the rights of our wrongfully injured clients – but we also like to lend a hand to more global causes. It is for this reason that we choose to give our time to charitable organizations like Amor Ministries. Timothy Grabe, the Portland personal injury lawyer at our firm, recently returned from a building project in Tijuana, Mexico under the leadership of this organization. While there, he joined a group of volunteers to build a structure in a poverty stricken area of the desert hills – which is not far from the U.S. border.

So far, the group has managed to build several small houses and a church. While Mr. Grabe was there, however, they worked for several days to build a new structure with basic hand tools. By the end of it, they were able to compose a fully functioning facility with stucco walls, a sturdy roof, windows and a door. Mr. Grabe is not only proud of the structure that he has helped to construct, but he is excited to see it being put to use. Many of the people living in that area are forced to travel long distances every day to work in the factories of Tijuana, but most of their income is spent on clean drinking and washing water that is trucked in. For this reason, Mr. Grabe hopes that his hard work will prove to make a difference for these people.

Unfortunately, reports of gang violence have driven many American volunteers away from projects like this. After visiting these areas for himself, however, Mr. Grabe reports that incidents of violence in Mexico are exaggerated by the media. In fact, he believes that almost all instances of violence in Tijuana are gang-on-gang related. No one who has volunteered with Amor Ministries has ever been injured while working on projects in Mexico, so he would not hesitate to offer his time again. Not only does Mr. Grabe enjoy his experiences with volunteer work, but he believes that it sets a good example for the youth in our country, as well.
